Kids between the ages of 8-11 (well-behaved parents are welcome to accompany) are invited to join San Francisco’s Poet Laureate Kim Shuck to explore El Polin Spring. You’ll hear the story of water in the Presidio and learn about the peoples, flora, and fauna who have thrived around this restored watershed for centuries. Be prepared to walk the trails, take in the place through your senses, give voice to your experience through poetry, and add your poem to the story of the Presidio. Approx. 0.5 mile of walking on boardwalk, unpaved trail, and sidewalks.
Kim Shuck is a Tsalagi (Cherokee)/Euro-American poet, author, weaver, and bead work artist who draws from Southeastern Native American culture and tradition as well as contemporary urban Indian life. On June 21, 2017, Mayor Ed Lee named Shuck as the 7th Poet Laureate of San Francisco.
Meet at the picnic tables at El Polin Spring.
