What's this week's podcast about?

In this episode, John McWhorter discusses his thoughts on antiracism, wokeness, and cancel culture. He explains why he believes antiracism is more like a religion than an ideology or political viewpoint and the dangers of that. Beyond viewing antiracism as wrong, McWhorter tells why he believes it actually serves to harm the very people it claims to support. McWhorter talks about the problems with race theories promoted by other prominent bestselling authors, specifically Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo. He discusses, among other things, Black identity, the victimization complex, historical versus current racism in the US, the Caribbean and African immigrant mindset, whether cancel culture has any value, ending the war on drugs, and whether he is "Black enough" to write his most recent book.

What's a podcast club?
It's like a book club for podcasts. Each week we discuss an episode from podcasters like Sam Harris, Ezra Klein, or Michael Shermer. We start off as a large group and spend most of the time chatting in smaller groups. Our conversations are casual and open. We encourage everyone to speak freely, respectfully, and concisely. To do this we try to adhere to Grice's Maxims: https://bit.ly/2p4uSQm

Ultimately, the idea is to help each other think a little differently, learn a thing or two and have some fun.
