This week's podcast is "The Ezra Klein Show'' with guest Katie (Kathryn) Haun, a general partner at the venture firm A16 (also known as Andreessen-Horowitz) and co-head of its cryptocurrency fund, Board member of Coinbase, and cryptocurrency professor at Stanford Business School. She's a former Supreme Court clerk and federal prosecutor who focused on cybercrime and prosecuted corrupt agents involved in Silk Road, the first big darknet market.

What's this week's podcast about?
In this episode, host Ezra Klein and guest Katie Haun talk about the burgeoning world of crypto technologies -- beyond just cryptocurrencies. Recognizing that this realm is largely new and difficult to comprehend for most listeners, their conversation begins with a mini tutorial on crypto, where they define terms and describe the current state of the crypto world, using as little technical jargon as possible. Klein and Haun discuss how the internet is basically a global copy machine and how crypto, with its blockchains, can change the nature of the internet. They talk about the possible elimination of the internet's corporate middlemen and a shift from the centralized power structure we have today (dominated by Facebook, Google, Spotify, etc.) to a decentralized one. They discuss possibilities for digital content creators to gain a greater financial stake in their creations and how this could play out in the fields of music, art, fashion, sport videos, and beyond. Klein and Haun also touch on blockchains and energy usage, among other things. This podcast is a good peek into the fast-growing and rather mind-bending crypto and digital world that's coming and is attracting tremendous financial investment.

What's a podcast club?
It's like a book club for podcasts. Each week we discuss an episode from podcasters like Sam Harris, Ezra Klein, or Michael Shermer. We start off as a large group and spend most of the time chatting in smaller groups. Our conversations are casual and open. We encourage everyone to speak freely, respectfully, and concisely. To do this we try to adhere to Grice's Maxims:

Ultimately, the idea is to help each other think a little differently, learn a thing or two and have some fun.
