Jack London Square and Bike East Bay present “Pedalfest” on Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Presented by Bay Area Bicycle Law and Drake’s Brewing Co., Pedalfest is a free celebration of bikes, cycling, food and family. All proceeds benefit Bike East Bay, which promotes healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safe, fun and accessible. Free bike valet will be available for all visitors!

Pedalfest will consist of a day full of pedal-powered food and entertainment, daredevil stunts, a bicycle parade for kids and bike safety training. In addition to a diverse display of bicycles—from vintage and hand-built bikes to high-end customizations— Pedalfest activities include (subject to change):

• Amphibious Bike Race– Watch this display of land and sea-worthy bikes, pedaling through Jack London Square and into the Oakland Estuary.

• Bicycle Stunt Shows– Professional stunt riders Zak Maeda and Casey Holm will wow crowds with exciting, two-wheeled stunts.

• Drake’s Brewing Lounge Area– An oasis under the palm trees to enjoy a cold one, with all proceeds from Drake’s Brewing supporting Bike East Bay.

• Pedal-Powered Live Music– Hop on a stationary bike to power Rock the Bike’s pedal-powered stage, all while soaking in great music from local artists.

• Performance from Snatch Adams– Catch this special show from clown college graduate Snatch Adams who combines classic skills such as knife-juggling and unicycling with the art of the tease.

• Scraper Bike Fashion Show– The Oakland-based Scraper Bike Team, which empowers urban youth living in underserved communities through self-expression and creativity, will show off their bicycle art.

• Electric Bike Test Track– Try out latest in bicycle tech on our E-Bike Test Track, sponsored by Trek Bicycles of Berkeley.

• Kids Bicycle Rodeo– Youth cycling instructors will provide a bike safety course, skills building lessons and bicycle safety instruction.

• Kids Bicycle Parade– Kids can deck out their bikes with spoke cards, streamers, stickers, and more! The station opens at 11 a.m., and the parade will cruise through Jack London Square at 12:30 p.m.

• Unicycle Lessons and Performances– Local riders perform unicycle stunts on the main stage and teach visitors how to balance on one wheel at the learn-to-ride station.

• Oakland Public Library Bike Library–The city’s bike-powered bookmobile pulls into Pedalfest with cascading bookshelves filled with books for locals to browse and check out.

• Whymcycles– Builder Peter Wagner brings his cycling creations to Pedalfest. From penny-farthing high wheelers to miniature hand cycles, he has spent years creating an eclectic collection of handmade bicycles built from recycled car parts, trampolines, old bicycles and more.

• Theft Prevention Photo Booth– Attendees can register their bikes at the Dolan Law Firm’s Theft Prevention Booth and learn all the best tips for keeping their favorite two-wheeled machine safe. They are invited to take a photo of their bike and get a free listing on BikeIndex.org.
