Patience, or Bunthorne's Bride by Gilbert & Sullivan

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at The Bowl at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business (see times)
Stanford Savoyards presents Patience by Gilbert & Sullivan. Sci fi fandom and cosplay are satirized in a staged and orchestrated entertainment including lyrics and costumes inspired by multiple incarnations of Star Trek and Doctor Who. Bunthorne (cosplaying as Spock), is worshipped by all the young ladies dressing in Star Trek garb to gain his attention. All adore him, except for the one he most wants, Patience. A rival Doctor Who fan, Grosvenor (cosplaying as the 11th Doctor), falls in love with Patience, too. Who will win her heart–the Trekkie or the Whovian?

Performances are Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18 at 8pm, plus a matinee on Sunday, May 18 at 2pm. Patrons are encouraged to join the cosplay fun and come in Star Trek or Doctor Who costumes. Those who do will receive a free treat at concessions (while supplies last). In the event of inclement weather, check the Stanford Savoyards website http://savoyards.stanford.edu for updates. If a performance is cancelled due to rain, patrons will be given the option to either transfer their tickets to another performance (subject to availability) or receive a full refund. The Bowl is an intimate venue consisting of 200 seats, so advanced ticket purchases are recommended.

Stanford Savoyards is a student-run community theatre company dedicated to performing Gilbert & Sullivan and light opera. We produce two fully-staged and orchestrated operettas on the Stanford campus per season. Founded in 1973, the troupe is known for putting clever spins on the traditional Gilbert & Sullivan opus, often paying homage to pop culture phenomena such as Tim Burton, Bollywood, Firefly, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
