PAN (LABEL SHOWCASE): Bill Kouligas, LEE GAMBLE, HEATSICK, NHK'KOYXEN at Public Works
Founded in 2008 by Bill Kouligas, the Berlin-based label PAN has weaved a unique path through the fields of experimental and latter electronic music, highlighting not only noise artists, but also those willing to straddle the boundaries between sound-art, experimentation and even dance music. From the forward-thinking electronic works of Trevor Wishart, Florian Hecker, Mika Vainio, Kevin Drumm, Mark Fell and Keith Fullerton Whitman, to outsider unique voices like Joseph Hammer, Frieder Butzmann, Ghédalia Tazartès as well as the mutant house and techno of Heatsick, NHK'Koyxen, SND and Lee Gamble, PAN's compelling curatorial approach seeks to create a dialogue between artists with strong, singular visions. In 2012, the label gained exposure from worldwide music press as label of the year for FACT Magazine, and made it to the top 5 of other respected media such as Resident Advisor, Juno, Little White Earbuds, The Wire Magazine and Pitchfork to name but a few. Also the label expanded its activities with numerous showcases in acclaimed festivals such as CTM, Unsound, Donau, and as well as a two day festival at Cafe OTO in London, tv music show Boiler Room, two label nights at Berlin's Berghain and furthermore participations in group exhibitions and art fairs just as abc | Art Berlin Contemporary most recently.
