Over the River and Through the Woods

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Contra Costa Civic Theatre (see times)
Nov 17-Dec 10; Fri-Sat at 8pm, Sun at 2pm

Nick is a young marketing executive who routinely visits his four grandparents every Sunday for dinners which are governed by the three "F's"-family, faith and food. One Sunday he has an exciting, though devastating announcement for his grandparents: He is being promoted to a new position in far-away Seattle. Since Nick is their only relative left in the area, the thought of losing him calls for drastic action on the part of the grandparents. The solution? Introduce him to the woman of his dreams. So, one day, Caitlin O'Hare comes to dinner. Nick likes her and starts thinking that staying in New Jersey might not be such a bad idea. As his decision gets closer, Nick faces the tough question, "How much do you owe the people who care for you? How much is enough?" In the process of making his decision he learns not only how much he is loved by his grandparents, but also how much they mean to him.

CCCT's production features Ben Knoll, last seen as the hapless Humphrey Bludgepot in the world premiere of The Lost Years, as the grandson Nick; Keith Jefferds and Lynne Hollander as Frank and Aida Gianelli; Tom Flynn and Christine Macomber as Nunzio and Emma Cristano; and Courtney Shaffer as Nick's girlfriend, Caitlin O'Hare. The design team is Stewart Lyle (set design), Lisa Danz (costume design), Courtney Johnson (lighting design), Devon LaBelle (props design), and Michael Kelly (sound design).

Single tickets for Over the River and Through the Woods range from $11 to $30. Performances are Fridays and Saturday nights at 8pm, and Sunday matinees at 2pm. All performances take place at CCCT's intimate and fully accessible theatre in the Flynn building located at 951 Pomona Avenue in El Cerrito. Free parking is provided in the adjoining lot. For more information, visit https://www.ccct.org or call 510.524.9012.
