Outreach Sweat Your Prayers™ with Sylvie Minot

About the Event:
In September 2015, Syzygy Dance Project (www.syzygydanceproject.org) held its first Sunday Sweat Your Prayers™at Options Recovery Services, an outpatient drug treatment center in Berkeley. This event brought our dance community together with our outreach community. It was such a success that we’ve launched a series of Outreach Sweats. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about our outreach programs while dancing in one of the places where our work matters most! With Sylvie Minot at the helm, we will be holding a minimally guided Sweat Your Prayers™ at Options Recovery Center, bridging communities and offering healing movement for all.

All proceeds from this Sunday Sweat will support our weekly movement classes at Options Recovery Services. Come dance with us!!

About 5Rhythms:
The 5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody regardless of shape, size, age or experience. While the practice itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. 
The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression. Sweat Your Prayers™ adheres to the 5Rhythms, and incorporates less guidance than our typical class.
