Oceanvs Orientalis

Collective electronic music producer team based in Istanbul, Turkey, founded by Safak Oz Kutle.

HOJ

Hoj is a weird name. It's just 3 letters, but only 3% of people in the world pronounce it correctly. It doesn't translate well (especially into Spanish). And is often misspelled. The mischief caused by these 3 little letters is a constant source of amusement for Hoj and those closest to him.

Don't worry, we'll tell you how to pronounce "Hoj" correctly. That way if you ever meet Hoj, you can surprise him by pronouncing his name correctly. But we'll hold out a bit longer for dramatic effect.

So yes, lots of mischief caused by the 3 letters that are his name. Fitting, because Hoj sets out to create mischief in all his creative endeavors. His music is deep and sexy in a way that encourages crowds to create a little mischief of their own.

This sound earned him a night at Berlin's legendary Panorama Bar amongst a slew of other clubs and stages around the world. He was one of the founding members of the Opulent Temple at Burning Man, and in recent years his sets atop the Robot Heart bus have become legendary in their own right. He continues his musical escapades alongside Lee Burridge as a resident for All Day I Dream. And also enjoys a residency with Listed Productions.

He is currently based in Los Angeles. And you pronounce his name with a long "O" - like the "O" in "NO". And a soft "J" - like the "G" in "MIRAGE". The "H" is not silent.

PillowTalk

PillowTalk is Sammy D, Ryan Williams and Michael Tello. Based out of the famous Lower Haight District in San Francisco, PillowTalk's music fuses classic R&B, boogie and disco with underground house and techno with an original feel. With releases out on Visionquest, Life & Death and Wolf + Lamb, 2012 is shaping up to be a huge year as they hit the road with the live band.

It all started when the...y found themselves up late, gathered around the baby grand piano in Ryan’s kitchen. Tello would be strumming on guitar and Sammy would be fiddling around on the Wurlitzer. It all just came together organically…without knowing it, melodies would form, songs would appear and before anyone realised, Sammy would be singing some off-hand hook and, hey presto, you had what Arthur Russell would call; “first thought, best thought” compositions.

Soon, these impromptu and improvised jam sessions were recorded on iPhone apps before being taken to ‘the lab” (a space about two blocks away) and from there they were transformed into alluring, charming, dance-pop ‘songs’.

With experience of, and backgrounds in, so many genres, Pillow Talk are making some seriously inspiring and beautifully original music. If you’re trying to pin down their exact sound you may have to refer to their motto of ‘D.A.G’ (destroy all genres - a term borrowed from a famed underground San Fran DJ). With influences ranging from the Beach Boys to Sam Cooke, from Freddie Hubbard to Harry Nilsson, and from Larry Heard to Theo Parrish, you can tell these guys are ruled from the right side of their brains. Having just started composing, this trio are still finding their own true groove, with their full potential yet to be explored…

A delightful debut single (‘Love Makes Parks’ on the revered Visionquest imprint) is soon to be followed by a beautiful full length on Life and Death, before following that up with another finely crafted EP for NYC house darlings, Wolf + Lamb. As well as that, a live show is in the works, soon to be debuted later this year. We look forward to following this fresh and exciting new sound and realize some of your deepest secrets are revealed “Pillow Talking”, so we are just lucky to listen in…

Dj M3 aka Makes Me Move

Dj M3 has staked his everlasting claim in the Bay Area music community in 1990 as a key promoter and DJ, roles for which he took on the abbreviated appellation of M3, short for “Makes Me Move”. Begun as a fluid, down-tempo approach, M3 eventually evolved his sound to the expression of house and techno bangers he is known for today. Manny quickly developed his own legendary party brand Green Gorilla Lounge and progressed to sharing the decks with industry icons with bookings across the globe. This further developed Manny’s acumen for rhythm and cultural finesse, priming him for several collaborations with Phil ‘Rene’ Collis of Bachelor’s of Science and setting the stage for their alliance as the stealthy duo Sleight of Hands. Having seen releases through his own label Green Gorilla Lounge, as well as Smoke ’N’ Mirrors, Om, Sirenum, and Chillin’ Records. Presenting with Green Gorilla, Manny also co-hosts the annual “Fully Loaded” in collusion with the infamous Sunset Crew. Suffice it to say, there is no doubt M3 is thoroughly invested in his lifelong relationship with the 1s and 2s. Looking to the future. 2017 will see a kick of release from green gorilla lounge. BE ON THE LOOK OUT!

Rachel Torro

Rachel Torro is a DJ based in San Francisco, California who has spent the last five years making waves on the house music scene with eclectic and uplifting sets whenever she is in the booth. Her foray into electronic music curiously began at 15 when she found herself on a dance floor at a massive rave in Kansas City. Influenced by the likes of David Bowie to obscure German techno, Torro embarked on a journey from her home in the Chicago suburbs and headed out west to Colorado, then later to San Francisco, collecting and mixing music, while immersed in a world of colorful post-adolescent raving.

As a creative selector, Torro tests the boundaries between minimal, deep, and tech house styles, uniquely layering a blend of rich sounds, both playful and sophisticated all the same. She has an innate ability to hold the attention of a dance floor and take it long into the night, whether playing in San Francisco, Berlin or distant desert landscapes. With her previous residency at Public Works, Torro has shared the stage with the legendary Pete Tong along with NU, Hot Since 82, Mira and Lee Burridge. She is also a resident of infamous New York party collective, ZERO, known for their lavish boat parties and contrasting warehouse events. With a growing fan-base hooked on her marathon sets and unfailing warm energy on the decks, Torro is a powerful woman rising in the underground dance music community at large.
