Outdoor Movie Night: So I Married an Axe Murderer

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Outdoor Movie Night returns to Duboce Park on Saturday, July 26 with the cult classic comedy, “So I Married an Axe Murderer” (1993, PG-13), starring Mike Myers and Brenda Fricker. Movies with a San Francisco theme have been shown at all of our previous Movie Nights, including “Pursuit of Happyness” in 2010, “The Rock” in 2011, “The Incredibles” in 2011, and “Mrs. Doubtfire” in 2012, and “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” in 2013.

Here’s a quick summary: Charlie McKenzie (Myers) is a beat poet living in San Francisco. He meets a butcher named Harriet and becomes infatuated instantly. But Charlie reads an article about “Mrs. X”, a bride who kills her husbands on their honeymoon, who seems to perfectly match Harriet. Uh-oh.

The movie will begin around 8:30 p.m. and will be preceded by shorts made by the staff and students at the Harvey Milk Recreation Center. Movie Bingo cards will be distributed before the movie begins and the first five people who correctly and completely fill out and submit their bingo card will win gift cards to Peet’s. Each square on the card has a question about the movie to be answered.

The event is free and is sponsored by Friends of Duboce Park and San Francisco Recreation & Parks. We will have popcorn, hot chocolate and other snacks available at our popular refreshment stand. For more information or to volunteer, please contact FPD President Doug Woo at [email protected].
