Pause at our Plaza and experience a collaborative outdoor dance work exploring mindfulness, meditation, and connection. Throughout the pandemic, choreographer Alyssa Mitchel has been crafting a site-specific performance, working with themes of presence and connection in times of isolation. The ten featured dancers will guide the audience through a dynamic meditative journey at the Exploratorium's Plaza, near Buckyball.
This hour-long outdoor dance production is a collaboration between Mitchel, her company of ten dancers, and her creative team. This collaboration is a fusion of artistic styles by artists of diverse backgrounds, including performing artists Ismael Acosta, Ashley Burdick, Vincent Chavez, Jessica DeFranco, Sawako Gannon, Olivia Holston, Keith Makishima, Perez Perez, Jasper Sanchez, and Fabiana Santiago and the creative team of composer Julian Drucker and costume designer Jamielyn Duggan.
Join us for a live Q&A with Mitchel, Drucker, and several of the performing artists following the 12:00 p.m. (Saturday) and 3:30 p.m. (Sunday) performances.
Here. Now. is made possible with support from The Isolation Project, Moving Arts Academy of Dance, and many generous individual donors.
