Out of the Head and into the Heart: Western and Indigenous ways

SEE EVENT DETAILS

What does it actually mean to live from the heart?

In what ways are we stuck in our heads, without even realizing it?

What’s the root cause of the world’s dysfunctions -

and how can we deal with it NOW?

How can Indigenous wisdom help us with our modern-day challenges?

ABOUT:

Join an evening with Indigenous Elder Ilarion Merculieff and urban millennial Olivia Frazao for a challenging and lively discussion and experimentation of the above topics. This dynamic duo comes together to share both modern and Indigenous truths around how we can best connect with our greater selves, our intuition, and each other, to build a better world - now. Through dialogue, Q&A, guided meditation, and exercises, we will cover how the patriarchy we see in the world around us is also deeply embedded within the Western view of basic reality itself. We’ll look at how masculine energies have over-powered feminine energies, and how we've turned the head-heart dynamic upside-down. And we'll come together to point to and feel the heart which holds us, guides us, and is us.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Ilarion Merculieff comes from the last generation with a fully intact traditional upbringing of the 10-thousand year lineage of Indigenous Unangan people. When he was four years old, Ilarion was chosen to be the Unangan peoples’ Kuuyux - "carrier of ancient knowledge into modern times” - and he is now disseminating this wisdom.

Olivia Frazao is a spiritual healing practitioner dedicated to radical social change through helping people remember who they truly are, and re-illuinating soul family ties that allow us to collectively bring forth the greater truth of our hearts. She is a writer, healer, and workshop facilitator based in NYC and California.
