Why are Ashkenazi Jews more likely to inherit certain genetic conditions?
Featuring guest speaker: Gary Frohlich, MS, CGC of Sanofi Genzyme will discuss the "Founder Effect," genetic conditions among Ashkenazi Jews, and the signs and symptoms of Gaucher Disease. Gaucher is one of the most common of Ashkenazi diseases, affecting 1 in 850, with 1 in 15 a carrier.
Gary has been a genetic counselor for over 35 years and has seen over 26,000 couples for genetic counseling. He is a published author of both scientific articles as well as pamphlets on Ashkenazi Jewish Diseases.

ABOUT GARY FROHLICH
Gary is a graduate of New York University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1972. He was awarded a scholarship from the National Foundation March of Dimes to attend graduate school in Human Genetics and Genetics Counseling earning his Master's degree from Rutgers University in 1973. He did his clinical rotation at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, mentored by Dr. Kurt Hirshhorn. Gary has been a Genetics Counselor for over 45 years.
Gary has worked for Sanofi Genzyme, an American biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 20 years.
