Operation Laughter

SEE EVENT DETAILS
ATTENTION SILICON VALLEY!
Michael Pritchard, Chairman of the "Joint Chiefs of Laffs", WANTS YOU to support the troops this Veterans Day by attending OPERATION LAUGHTER, a comedy benefit for Walking Point Foundation on Wednesday, November 6th at the Hotel DeAnza in downtown San Jose!
Walking Point Foundation (WPF) is a SF Bay Area 501C-3 not-for-profit organization that mentors injured veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars through the arts to help them express themselves, connect with others and heal from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). WPF provides professionals in the disciplines of theater, comedy, the visual arts, filmmaking, and writing—who are veterans of their professions —to mentor the new veterans as they master a new discipline. By helping individual veterans to overcome the feelings of isolation after they return from combat, they can more easily adjust to civilian living.

OPERATION LAUGHTER is a special comedy fundraising event the week before Veterans Day to raise awareness of the transformative quality of art as utilized by WPF. The event will feature the stand up comedy of “Joint Chiefs of Laffs” Michael Pritchard and Jeff Applebaum and include cocktails and appetizers, raffle with prizes and a special video presentation with voice over by Robin Williams.

Michael Pritchard is a nationally acclaimed keynote speaker praised by the Wall Street Journal, CNN and Time for his ability to use humor to inspire and educate audiences on communication skills. He is currently in production on a documentary series for PBS and can be seen in the film The Happy Movie with the Dalai Lama. Michael also serves on the Board of Directors for Walking Point Foundation. Jeff Applebaum is an MIT engineer turned comedian who recently made his national TV debut on CBS’ “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and appears in the blockbuster film “The Pursuit of Happyness” starring Will Smith.
The arts have proven to be effective in helping people with PTSD and TBI to process and communicate their experience, creating healthy pathways to future employment and mental health as well as a new confidence in finding their place back in civilian life. This is something our heroes deserve and this event is something you can do.
This Veteran's Day, be a hero for our heroes. Join us for OPERATION LAUGHTER, donate and tell your friends.
Thank you,
