Ever wonder what surgeons talk about while holding a person's life in their hands? Every try to wander into an Operation Room to find out? For some reason, they don't let you. Operating rooms weren't always such exclusive affairs. 100 years ago you could put on your best tweed suit, say something about being a medical enthusiast, and find a nice spot on a wooden balcony to get a birds-eye-view of a rustic surgery. And now you can again!
Operation Improv is opening the Operating Room to the public! And Amado's Bar is hosting! With their hard-wood floors, antique environment and balconies for overhead viewing, the Operating Theater of old can be brought back to life. And they'll even sell you some good old-fashion anesthesia!
Operations occur in 10-minute sets with 10-minute transition periods. Plenty of time to grab a drink, visit the restroom, chat with a friend. Don't worry about being late or early. You can come for one operation or stay for them all. And the bar is open before and after the procedures.
Operations are performed by three categories of surgeons: "Lead Surgical Team" (Professional Improvisors), "Residency Staff" (Invited Non-improvisors), and "Interns" (Audience Members). That's right! YOU could perform a surgery yourself. Don't worry, we will guide you through it. Or, if you're not feeling up for that, you could volunteer to have an operation performed on you! (All you have to do is lie there.)
