Opening Our Hearts to Others

SEE EVENT DETAILS
In each moment we have a choice: to open to the present circumstance or to close down into our familiar patterns. Truly opening our heart to others is a process. The Dharma, in its multitudes of methods, offers us a wealth of material to apply to that process. Through periods of teaching, meditation and discussion, we will explore various Buddhist methods for opening our heart to others and healing emotional patterns that may be subverting our efforts.

Teacher: Tenzin Namsel is an American Buddhist monk in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Namsel met the Dharma in Boston, MA in his early twenties as a college student at Berklee College of Music. Over the years Namsel has developed his Buddhist studies and practice under a number of well respected teachers within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, though primarily with his main teachers, Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. In 2008 Namsel took novice monastic ordination with His Holiness Dalai Lama in McLeod Gange, India. Upon returning to the United States Namsel moved to 'Land of Calm Abiding,' a retreat center located on California's central coast. There, under the guidance of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Namsel engaged in various retreats over a three year period. In 2011 Namsel moved to Crestone, CO, and under the guidance of Tsoknyi Rinpoche is continuing his practice and studies.
