On Cultural Beliefs and Longevity: A Conversation with Mario Martinez

SEE EVENT DETAILS
If you would like to register for "The MindBody Self: Logevity and Health: A Workshop with Mario Martinez" on October 27th & 28th, 2018, click here.
We know that the mind can influence the body, but what influences the mind? In this conversation, clinical neuropsychologist Mario Martinez explains how our cultural beliefs are more powerful than our genes in influencing health and wellbeing.
Join Mario for a conversation about how his research challenges us to embrace a new paradigm of health and wellness by shifting our consciousness to learn longevity and health.

Mario Martinez is a US clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in how cultural beliefs affect health and longevity. He proposes, based on mindbody research evidence, that longevity is learned and the causes of health are inherited. He has studied healthy centenarians (100 years or older) worldwide and found that only 20-25% can be attributed to genetics––the rest is related to how they live, and the cultural beliefs they share. Dr. Martinez is the author of the bestselling book The MindBody Code: How to Change the Beliefs that Limit Your Health, Longevity, and Success that teaches his theory and practice of biocognitive science to the general public. In addition to longevity, he teaches in his latest bestseller, The MindBody Self: How Longevity is Learned and the Causes of Health Are Inherited, why our immune system is not just a protector. Instead, it responds to the cultural premises we learn to perceive the world.
