On Cinema Live! - The Certified Five Bags of Popcorn Tour

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Any film buff has to respect On Cinema, the hilarious movie review video series that covers anything and everything -- including the personal neuroses and turmoil of Tim Heidecker and the impressive VHS collection of his "film expert" pal Gregg Turkington -- except the films they attempt to critique. The On Cinema concept originated in 2011 as a podcast. It's since expanded into a web series and a TV series for Adult Swim, along with a spinoff action series parody called Decker, and even a live tour event.

The show stars Heidecker and Turkington as fictional versions of themselves. Before creating the show, both actors had long been regular fixtures in the comedy scene.

Pennsylvania-born Heidecker first made a name for himself as half of the comedy duo Tim & Eric, alongside Eric Wareheim. The pair created several satirical series for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, appeared in a few films (including 2012's The Comedy), and even wrote a book that was published in 2015. Heidecker also is involved in music and has released a handful of albums, both parodic and serious.

Meanwhile, Australia-born Turkington has also made a career out of both music and comedy, starting in the 1980s in the punk scene in San Francisco. In the early '90s, he developed the fictional stand-up comedian character Neil Hamburger.

Together, Heidecker and Turkington borrow from their eclectic entertainment backgrounds, creating a sort of Siskel & Ebert-like interaction -- just far more strange, surreal, and downright ridiculous. And it's been an overwhelming success.

In fact, the franchise has even moved from beyond the screen to the stage. Heidecker and Turkington's first live tour, On Cinema Live!, made its way to several cities around the U.S. in 2018. They return once again in 2019 with dates throughout the Midwest, the Southeast, and Texas.

During these hilarious live performances, expect a few "special guest" appearances as Tim and Gregg run through tangential topics, political debates, conspiracy theory talk, a rock performance, and maybe even a movie review or two.
