"Highly experimental and consistently refreshing."- SF Weekly
Manifesting (World Premiere)
An antic dance theater work inspired by artist manifestos. "Manifesting" builds on Hope Mohr's long-standing investigation of inherited models as a means to articulate artistic voice.
Stay (2015)
Mohr's acclaimed response to Francis Bacon's commitment to subverting narrative in his creative process through the use of "free marks"-- throwing paint and other improvisational procedures designed to bring chaos into an otherwise carefully composed canvas. Rather than recreate Bacon's imagery, "Stay" echoes the impact of a Bacon painting: visceral punch, emotional disturbance.
