Oaklavía will close three miles of streets circumnavigating Lake Merritt to car traffic, allowing participants to experience what a people- and community-centered urban space can feel like when our built environment is committed to safe and accessible places to walk and to bike. Love Our Lake Day is accessible by BART (Lake Merritt, 12th Street/City Center, 19th Street stations) and several AC Transit bus lines.

Walk, bike, stroll, dance, paddle and pedal the Lake. 3 miles of mostly car-free streets. Free activities include salsa by the lake, bike rentals including tandems, tennis, bike repair, live music, and people watching. Half-price boat rentals and discounted gondolas! Fun for the entire family, including food truck eats. Experience Lake Merritt transformed by Measure DD and community advocates.

Walk Oakland Bike Oakland is proud to bring car-free open streets events to Oakland. Our inaugural event in 2010 brought over 4,000 people into the heart of Oakland to experience the city’s best natural and architectural assets, outdoor activities, and arts in some of our most well-loved and unique streets and neighborhoods. Check out 2010 Video and Photos as well as a list of our amazing partners.
