Nutrition for Triathletes Clinic/Workshop

SEE EVENT DETAILS
An often-overlooked part of triathlon training is nutrition and hydration: what you eat and drink day-to-day as well as what you eat and drink before, during, and after your workouts and races can have a HUGE impact on your performance and recovery.
In this 3-hour class, sports nutrition consultant and triathlete Heidi Buttery will go deep on how to fuel your active lifestyle. The class is limited in size so that Heidi can answer your questions and tailor the content to the needs of the participants.
Heidi will share her strategies to help you balance carbohydrates, fuel workouts and races. Balancing blood sugar and maintaining steady energy during race day is key to a strong performance and will also help you achieve body composition goals. Heidi will be bringing homemade energy food samples so you can try some of the things that she recommends. She will also bring handouts and materials for you to take home.
Key areas discussed:1. Overall Diet Clean Up2. Hydration3. PreTraining/Race Nutrition4. During Training/Race Nutrition5. Recovery Nutrition
There will be an emphasis on Olympic and Half-Ironman distance fueling strategies to align with SF Tri's target races of Tri Santa Cruz & Santa Cruz 70.3, but racers of all distances are welcome to attend. This interactive, hands-on workshop will boost your confidence in your home-based transition area (your kitchen!) to prepare easy meals and get you ready for race day. You will learn how to decrease recovery time, so you can train harder and stronger and achieve optimal performance. All athletes, beginner or experienced, are encouraged to join!
Sign up today! Limited to 25 participants.

About Heidi Buttery, Nutrition Consultant + Triathlete:Heidi has competed in many triathlons, including iron-distance, half-ironman, olympic and sprint. She counsels athletes in the Bay Area and remotely, emphasizing the importance of healthy diet in fueling every day and race nutrition.
