Please join the Homeless Garden Project for a screening of "Not the Other," a 20-minute video presenting first-hand experiences from many homeless people in our community. The film is the result of a year-long project with interviews from 40 people experiencing homelessness. This multimedia presentation, with videos, photographs, and text narratives, is designed to demonstrate the wide diversity, and the dignity, vulnerability, resilience, resourcefulness, struggles and strengths of the homeless in our community. We're thrilled to share the video that moves past stereotypes and embraces the complexities of homelessness.
The Homeless Garden Project (HGP), founded in 1990, provides job training, transitional employment and support services to people who are homeless. The programs take place in a 3-acre organic farm and related enterprises. The Project operates a vibrant community education and volunteer program that serves more than 1500 people each year.
The Homeless Garden Project Downtown Store features products made in HGP's training program and is open Friday and Saturday, noon-7 PM and Sunday, noon-6. The event is free, but your purchases, and donations, support HGP's programs.
