This event is part of National Dance Week. Site Specific dance is dance that denounces the boundaries of a concert stage or theater. From crosswalks to bus stops, bridges to buildings, dancers and choreographers are reshaping our conventional ideas about performance. Brought out into the world, dance expands its imaginative repertoire, engages with new audiences, and helps reinvigorate a sense of communal space.
This year, Dance Week Santa Cruz premiers it's first guided walking tour of site-specific dance. Participating choreographers included Cid Pearlman, Gerald Casel, Dixie Mills and Jeanette Bent.
The tour will start at 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm on Saturday May 3rd at Abbot Square in front of the Museum of Art and History in Downtown Santa Cruz.
