More about No Mirror Movement
After struggling with and recovering from her own decade-long eating disorder, Founder and CEO Samantha Ethridge saw a monumental need in her community to equip dancers with mindfulness skills and accurate health information, as well as build a strong foundation of acceptance and compassion in order to empower dancers to live fully expressed and holistic healthy lives - free from self-destructive thoughts and disordered eating and exercise habits.

No Mirror Movement is comprised of three community-oriented branches of impact:

Professional Dance Collective, which curates art that comments on and challenges society's messages on how we "should" relate to our bodies, and hence how we develop self-worth. Our dance style is a fusion of hip-hop, contemporary, and waacking, tells stories that shine light on the taboo subjects of mental illness and body image.

Dance+Wellness Intensives, the only integrative curriculum of its kind in the Bay Area, provides top-notch dance training (street and classical styles) with wellness workshops (intuitive eating, meditation, body acceptance) to all ages, with a key focus on middle school and high school years. Our work is founded in the knowledge that early prevention works. Our program aims to help students grow leaps and bounds not just as dancers, but as whole people leading a life full of joy, connection, and self-expression.

Going On a Dance Workouts, are high energy, fun, positive, and inclusive roving dance parties around the parks of San Francisco. Our classes are for all-ages and work on strengthening the "I don't give a f*** muscle." Workouts help build confidence, body-acceptance, cardio stamina and a sense of community. They are twice a month and change locations.
