Kirk Lombard is an absolute delight. He's a storyteller, musician, fish monger, and author. Encyclopic and enthusiastic, he's been voted the Best Walking Tour in SF, and has been featured in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Food Network, yadda yadda.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, he's been a Nerd Nite speaker twice, sung rip-roaring sea chanties on Alcatraz with us, and guided us on weird and wonderful tours on history, fishing, and foraging!
So we're thrilled to celebrate our 100th show by going on another tour with him. Brace yourself for a fun, crazy, fish-centric walking tour where Kirk will pull crabs and eels out from our Bay waters, and share all sorts of fascinating insights into our local seafood: the history of our fisheries, sustainability, regulations, and how-to!
Learn the basics of "poke poling" for monkeyfaced eels, how to catch rock crabs, and throw a casting net. Discover how to pluck the best local mollusks and seaweeds and forage a delicious meal. (I should know - after taking Kirk's tour, I went out and foraged the best damn cioppino I've ever had!)
READ THIS STUFF:
Meet at the Mission Rock Boat Launch Ramp: 50 yards to the north of The Bayview Boat Club at 489 Terry A. Francois Blvd, SF, CA, 94158
DO NOT knock on the boat club's door, that's just the nearest address. We'll be standing 50 yards away to the north.
Wear comfortable shoes and layers for our fickle weather
(There's also some brunch & beering options nearby if you feel up for a post-tour hangout!)
