CCA's Design Lecture Series presentsNeil Torrefiel: Inclusion in Design Thursday, March 14, 2019 1111 Eighth St. in SF6pm

Everyday in this country (and around the world), people are discriminated against for who they are. As designers, we have the power to make marginalized populations feel seen, accepted, normalized, holistic, and loved. Inclusive design is the practice of designing products, services, and experiences that are accessible and usable by as many people as possible. This presentation explores the issues and responsibilities designers must take on to see an equitable future.

About Neil Torrefiel
Neil Torrefiel leverages a strong sense of compassion to seek ways to bring a heightened sensitivity to the design of platforms, organizations, information, and data systems. He finds a deep passion in building cohesive digital experiences and driving business impact through social change and impact enterprise. His recent work across Southeast Asia and East Africa for the SPRING Accelerator has provided him a lens at which he can leverage design in the digital space to empower developing and marginalized communities.
Neil is a native and diehard San Franciscan and avid volunteer lending my time to homeless and cultural initiatives. He’s worked across a variety of clients, ranging from early tech start-ups, to Fortune 500 companies, government institutions, and social-impact related businesses, He’s held design roles at SolutionSet/Epsilon, ZURB, GreySF, and Apple. He is currently a Senior Experience Designer at fuseproject where he’s helping establish internal processes to gauge and evaluate inclusion practices across business development and client work. He is an adjunct professor in the Master of Interaction Design program.
