Nature in the City Walk - Buena Vista Park

SEE EVENT DETAILS
This walk will connect Adah's Stairway with Buena Vista Park, our forested oasis in the middle of the city.  Stunning views at the top and a lovely boardwalk will reward our slow but sometimes steep walk.  Our goal will be to hear and see the park's resident birds.  Many of them will have newly-fledged young in the park, and we should see all sorts of interesting behavior.  Bring binoculars if you have a pair (or can borrow some).  A hat to block the sun is also a good idea, since we'll be looking up!
Walk Leader: Kimberly Jannarone
Kimberly Jannarone is an avid birder who has lived near Buena Vista Park for seven years.  She is one of the monthly leaders at the Golden Gate Audubon monthly bird walks at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park, and she loves volunteering with the habitat restoration team at the salt marsh at San Francisco's Pier 94.
Details:
Paved paths with a couple relatively steep ascents. The hike may be difficult for children under 10. Suitable for adults and interested kids.  Dogs would scare away the birds we're trying to see.
Preparation:
Comfortable shoes, preferably with some grip.
Meeting Location:
Meet at the top of Adah's Stairway on Buena Vist Ave East.
Transportation:
Parking by Buena Vista.  Bus stop nearby.
Cost:
This walk is FREE to Nature in the City members.
For others a suggested donation of $10-$20 goes to support continued outreach and education efforts by Nature in the City. You can bring cash on the day of the event or donate online.
Or join Nature in the City today and attend all of our walks in 2017 for free!
