National Rosie the Riveter Day honors the millions of women who stepped into industrial jobs and defense industries during World War II, transforming the American workforce and redefining women's roles in society. The iconic "Rosie" symbolizes resilience, determination, and the enduring power of civic engagement.
This free, family-friendly celebration will feature engaging activities, special presentations, opportunities to connect with community partners, and inspiring stories that bring the Home Front era to life. Visitors of all ages are invited to learn more about the historic contributions of Rosie the Riveters and reflect on the ongoing impact of their legacy.
"Rosie the Riveter represents more than a moment in history, she represents the power of ordinary people to rise to extraordinary challenges," said Sarah Pritchard, Executive Director of Rosie the Riveter Trust, "National Rosie the Riveter Day is a chance to honor the legacy of our home front heroes and celebrate the profound social change sparked right here in Richmond."
The event will take place at the Park's Visitor Education Center and surrounding grounds. Admission is free and open to the public.
