ARIEL Theatrical’s holiday production of NARNIA opens at the Karen Wilson Children’s Theater in Salinas on December 6 and runs through December 21. The musical is based on the book, The Lion Witch and Wardrobe by C.S Lewis, and brings the timeless classic to life on stage.
The story follows Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie as they explore an enchanted world they discover when they slip through the back of an old wardrobe. The land of Narina is filled with intelligent talking animals, both good and evil. Along the way the children face events that require courage, wisdom, sacrifice and “test the best of what’s in their hearts.” Aslan, the great lion of Narnia, serves as the children’s mentor and offers insight to some of life’s greatest lessons.
Most of the 70 cast members are part of ARIEL Theatrical’s Winter Conservatory with ages ranging from 7 to 18. ARIEL offers year-round programs in theatre arts for children and adolescents at beginning, intermediate and accelerated training levels. More than 300 young people participate in nine productions and three summer camps annually. ARIEL programs all include a focus on developing life skills and building core values for young people.
