Join us on an all-day mushroom event centered on local mushrooms and their habitats. The day features an introductory lecture on mushrooms, guided forays into the woods to collect mushrooms, and a hands-on ID workshop. The guest speaker is local expert Christian Schwarz, co-author of the forthcoming book “Mushrooms of the Redwood Coast.†Experienced local foragers will be on hand to lead the forays and assist with identification, as well as to teach the basics of the identification process. Proceeds from this event will support Quail Hollow Ranch County Park and the Santa Cruz Mycoflora Project. Bring a trowel or similar shovel, field or utility knife, basket, paper or wax bags (not plastic), a pencil and paper for note taking, and field guide if you have one.
