Wild minds in the dark. The year is 1977, a young immigrant poet in San Francisco is in search for a deeper connection in life. He doesn’t have to look far. By exploring fear, cultural memory, and consciousness, he is able to peel back reality just enough to reveal his truth.
MUMU, a beautiful multisensory, art-theater experience set to take place at Bindlestiff Studio, the nations only theatre dedicated to Filipino and Filipino American artists in October 2017. Presented by Susmaryosep & co. along with Bindlestiff Studio, MUMU is a celebration of death and a meditation of our darker selves, creating new rituals and stories.
Through an ominous soundscape and immersive space, this exploration of our unknown darkness reveals an intimate story of connection, cultural psyche, and death... this is our inquiry of everything that haunts us as a people. MUMU is a 90-minute experiential provocation of spirits through an interwoven experience of dance, music, film, theatre and poetry.
This original production is brought together by a collective of local Filipino artists, Susmaryosep & Co., and will run from October 27 through November 18, 2017, Thursday to Saturday at Bindlestiff Studio. Each evening will have limited capacity of 40, of which guests will need to obtain reservations to the experience online.
