Friends of the Urban Forest presents a short documentary on the origin story of Mission Verde -- a community group that took ownership to water new trees along 24th Street in the Latino Cultural District of San Francisco. Featuring an array of perspectives, from neighborhood residents to community organizers to city officials, this short documentary delves into the emotions, efforts, and partnerships involved in creating a unique solution to preserve and grow the natural ecosystem of this district. It's a feel-good story that showcases what we can achieve when the city and community work together.
Following the screening of the 17-minute documentary, we'll have a panel discussion with:
o Carla Short - Interim Director of San Francisco Public Works
o Josh Klipp - Community Coordinator and volunteer with Mission Verde
o Kindra Scharich - Founder, Mission Verde
o Erick Arguello - President, Calle 24
o Marie Sorenson - Resident Chair, Calle 24
Tickets are on a sliding scale. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards covering the cost of Brava Theater. We appreciate your generosity.
