Founded in 1776 near the village of Chutchui by Franciscan Friar Francisco Palou, Mission San Francisco de Asis, popularly known as Mission Dolores, has always had a central place in the civic and cultural life of San Francisco.

Today, besides being a destination for hundreds of thousands of San Francisco visitors, Mission Dolores is an important part of the community, the center of a vibrant, diverse parish which ministers to all in need.
