Lech with the Golden Hour Restoration Institute will be leading this hike as we observe the federally threatened Mission blue butterfly and their habitat. Lech and his Mission Blue Crew are site stewards, habitat restorers, collectors of seeds and monitors of butterflies. We are very lucky that we get to come and observe their work, so please be extra careful on this hike as we will be in sensitive habitat. No pulling of plants, collecting of specimens, or getting off trail. I hope that you join us on this lovely afternoon adventure as we observe different rare plants found on Twin Peaks, enjoy beautiful vistas of our lovely San Francisco and of course look for the star of the show, the Mission blue butterfly.
Directions: From Portola Drive, you will make a right turn onto Twin Peaks Blvd. Continue up Twin Peaks Blvd, the road will make a rather sharp right turn, followed by a U shaped left turn, after the last left turn, you will see a parking lot located on Twin Peaks Blvd. We will meet at that parking lot, if you reach the summit you have gone too far. Reception will be spotty up there so if you have any questions regarding directions, it might be best to clear that up before the hike day. Wear hiking shoes for the terrain is hilly, and make sure to bring water.
