Practice the art of mindfulness inspired by a work of art on view at The Museum. Guided by Steven Tierney, each session will include an opening discussion, a thirty-minute mindfulness exercise, and a closing reflection. Mindfulness meditation is known to release stress, calm the nervous system, and cultivate compassion.
Steven Tierney is a professor of community mental health and chair of the Masters in Counseling Psychology at CIIS. Dr. Tierney is also an ordained Buddhist priest and is the co-founder and chief education officer of the San Francisco Mindfulness Foundation.
