Mentoring as Medicine: Helping Teens Navigate Our Complex World

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Stepping Stones Project creates a much-needed support system for middle school youth and their families as they go through the universal transformation that is "Coming of Age." We provide opportunities to more deeply explore this important time through our fun and meaningful program.

Learn about the Stepping Stones program and how we support youth through interactive presentations by members of the SSP community and experts in the field of youth development. Experience our philosophy and the tools of connection and communication we use in the groups!

Presenters: Laurie Margaritonda, Psy.D. and staff member Rachel Ross

With all the stressors for teens academically, socially, and societally, what support is available to teens to help them skillfully navigate this critical phase of development? Learn how mentoring can be a positive force in the lives of youth.

Laurie Margaritonda, Psy.D. is a rites of passage guide and therapist devoted to helping individuals live to their fullest potential. She is a practicing psychologist, working primarily with teens training in mindfulness and dialectical behavioral therapy. Laurie holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and her dissertation focused on ecological healing - in particular, its psychological and spiritual dimensions. She also holds a masters in clinical social work with an emphasis on youth and families. Laurie has been a member of the Stepping Stones community for many years, including leading 3 groups, one of which is still meeting in high school.
