Meet One of SF's Rising Political Stars: Candidate for D-10 Supervisor, Shamann Walton

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Our ability to affect change through inalienable rights such as “one person, one vote,” freedom of speech and our freedom to organize, are cornerstones of our democracy. And these rights, coupled with civic engagement and political participation, give power back to the people and remind candidates why it is their duty to represent our best interests.

Shamann Walton is a candidate that represents the people’s interests. Spending almost two decades in the public sector, first as the former Director of Potrero Hill Family Resource Center, he has consistently fought for the rights of families. As the current Executive Director of Young Community Developers, he has built numerous affordable housing units and provided critical jobs and rental assistance services to hundreds of District 10 residents. As President of the San Francisco Board of Education he worked to improve the quality of education for ALL San Francisco’s students, fighting to close the achievement gap for people of color, and students with special needs; while also protecting undocumented students.

Shamann Walton is a fighter. A fighter that has made friends on both sides of the aisle, Shamann has proven his commitment to carefully, and measuredly approach complex issues; never putting his personal interests above that of his community.

Shamann Walton is a leader. He is the leader that can and will help direct a new era for the District 10 community, as it is on the precipice of an economic boom, housing boom and potential designation as an African-American Cultural District.

It’s time to GOTV and support this worthy candidate, get into the hallowed halls of San Francisco’s City Hall!
