Wind's in the east, mist coming in - like somethin' is brewin' and bout to begin with "Mary Poppins" landing in Rohnert Park. Spreckels Theatre Company presents a main stage production and the North Bay premiere of the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Broadway musical.
Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, "Mary Poppins" recalls the enchanting story of the Banksfamily and how their lives are changed when the stern, but magical nanny Mary Poppins arrives at their London home at 17 Cherry Tree Lane. This lavishly fun family show features beloved tunes from the Walt Disney film and new songs written for this stage musical; plus rousing, high flying, toe-tapping dance numbers; and magical effects.
This main stage production is presented with the new Paradyne projection system, developed by Spreckels Performing Arts Center, combining still images and animations to create multiple backdrop effects - creating a visual aesthetic that's exciting and visually surprising for audiences of the 21st Century.
