The Piedmont Appreciating Diversity Committee will host the city's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration - free and open to the public -- at the Piedmont Community Center. The theme of this year's celebration is Fairness for All. The event will feature performances by the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir's Ecco Choir, Oakland School for the Arts' One Voice Choir, and the Oaktown Jazz Workshop, as well as spoken word performances by high school and middle school students. Speakers representing state government, the Mayor's office, and the Piedmont Police Department will discuss Dr. King and his legacy. The MLK Jr. Day celebration is sponsored by PADC and the City of Piedmont.
