The Manilatown Heritage Foundation, in partnership with FACINE is proud to present Manilatown Movie Night a soft launch for a series of monthly specially curated Philippine film screenings beginning December 20th, 2019.
Manilatown Movie Night is designed to showcase Filipino and Filipino-American related movies, filmmakers, actors and crews, infusing their art and insight into our vibrant, diverse community through film.
Each Manilatown Movie Night will also feature the following:
A community discussion led by Co-Programmers Professor Oscar Penaranda and Mauro Tumbocon, Founder and Director of the San Francisco Filipino American Film Festival (FACINE).
A presentation on the importance of Filipino Films in the Filipino-American Community.
Future Meet & Greets with Actors, Directors, Cinematographers, and Filipino movie enthusiasts.
Our first featured film will be "Closer To Home" released in 1995 and directed by Joseph Nobile. Starring Madeline Ortaliz and John Michael Bolger, "Closer to Home" weaves a universal, haunting tale of two people inexorably drawn together for vastly different reasons. It is a powerful, controversial film that quietly builds to a shattering collision of aspirations and cultures.
Manilatown Movie Night is Free to the Public - and when you RSVP through EventBrite you will also receive a free gift from Manilatown! Please RSVP today at:
