Macy’s Partners with SFSPCA and San Francisco Animal Care & Control for 33rd Annual Holiday Windows

SEE EVENT DETAILS
San Francisco Animal Care and Control is partnering with the San Francisco SPCA and Macy's Union Square for Holiday Windows! This is the first time that SF ACC will be part of the event. In addition to cats and dogs, this year's Holiday Windows will feature adorable, adoptable small animals like rabbits, chinchillas, and guinea pigs.

Join the unveiling at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 22, at Macy's Union Square on the corner of Stockton and O'Farrell Streets. The Windows will remain open every day throughout the holiday season from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Last year alone, 239 animals found homes at Holiday Windows and more than $77,000 was donated to support the SF SPCA's year-round lifesaving programs.

Each detail of the Macy's Holiday Windows is designed for the comfort of the animals, in partnership with the SF SPCA and SF ACC, ensuring that every need is considered. The 2019 Macy's Holiday Windows feature whimsical and dreamlike visuals, utilizing motion, light and music to bring Santa and his helpers to life.

"This event has become a true San Francisco holiday tradition, helping more than 9,000 animals find new homes," said Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, SF SPCA President. "We're incredibly thankful for Macy's generosity over the years, and we can't wait to have our longtime partners at San Francisco Animal Care and Control join the magic."

"Combining the magic of holiday giving, spending time with those we love and finding these animals new homes makes these windows one of our favorite projects all year," said Macy's Visual Manager, Rise Hixson. "Guests from all over the Bay Area and the United States love watching the adorable animals in these windows. Spreading that cheer and finding these animals loving homes at this time of year is magical."

"Animal Care & Control is thrilled to participate in such a popular and festive event with our SF SPCA neighbors," said Virginia Donohue, Executive Director of SF ACC. "We look forward to showcasing some of the adorably different kinds of small animals that come through our open-doors."

Holiday Windows relies on volunteer support. Last year 688 volunteers contributed 4,174 hours! The short two-hour shifts involve greeting the public, collecting donations, and directing people to the adoption center inside Macy's. No prior training is required, and groups are welcome to volunteer together. Volunteer registration will open in early November at sfspca.org/holiday-volunteer

This year, the SF SPCA and SF ACC are hosting two special Cuddle Experiences, where visitors can snuggle with adoptable animals. $10 gets 10 minutes of snuggles! Cuddle sessions are available first come, first served, on the 7th Floor of Macy's. November 8, 2pm - 4pm and December 5, 12pm - 2pm.

On December 12, visitors are invited to come and get their pet's photo taken with Santa at the special Santa Paws event, 5pm - 8pm, on Macy's 7th Floor. Champagne and treats will be served. Tickets will be available in early November at sfspca.org

Holiday Windows would not be possible without our sponsor, Nestle Purina PetCare Company!
