THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
Heralded as "Canada's answer to Ace of Bass" by the Toronto Sun Examiner (an odd comparison given that they are from the San Francisco Bay Area and the Ace of Bass question has not been raised in twenty years), Corduroy Jim bring their unique blend of funky Americana Jam music to Don Quixote's International Music Hall in Felton on Saturday, March 22nd. Having played alongside the likes of the String Cheese Incident, the Doobie Brothers, Greenday, The Jefferson Airplane, Train, Johnny Guitar Watson, the Temptations, Merl Saunders, Yonder Mountain String Band and Leftover Salmon to name but a few, the various members of the band bring an eclectic mix to the stage drawing from such diverse influences as Led Zeppelin to Jeff Buckley to Radiohead to Phish. The band's undeniable driving undercurrent of traditional Peruvian goat-herding chants harken back to the early formative years of the band's leader, Martin Rodriguez who, on a misty spring morning at the ripe age of 11, had a vision while gathering his flock on the altiplano bordering Bolivia. A purple 3-horned alpaca rose from the still waters as he stood on the western shore of Lake Titicaca, enlightening him of a time to come when he would make his way to America and form a band whose music would invoke the spirits of the ancestral creators of the Nasca Lines - thereby bringing about the return of the Star People. He has yet to form this band (as he has yet to find anyone else to buy into his vision) but, in the meantime, he has chosen to devote himself to Corduroy Jim. It beats herding goats...
Sharing the bill are local mountain favorites Grampa's Chili and Medicine Road with special out-of-town guests the Sacramento Storytellers. Tickets are $12 in advance/$15 at the door. Music starts at 8pm. 21+
