STAR WARS LIGHTSABER BATTLE BRINGS FORCE TO SAN FRANCISCO
THE PLANET OF TYTHON, DEEP CORE (GALAXY) – TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24RD, 2015 – Thirteen-thousand Star Wars fans are expected to join forces in the streets of San Francisco to engage in a cross-nation Lightsaber Battle on Friday, December 18th, 2016, from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Massive fan-run lightsaber parties are planned to ignite across American cities in celebration of the Star Wars premiere with events being held in N.Y., L.A., San Diego, and Seattle.
“Fan participation is expected to exceed the thirteen-thousand attendee mark, because the facebook event page indicates that an additional 14-thousand are interested in the event,” says event organizer Kevin Bracken, Co-founder of Newmindspace. “A new Star Wars movie is like Christmas for us. We have been producing enormous lightsaber battles for years now, but the level of energy around Episode VII is the biggest we’ve ever seen. We will distribute over 8,000 lightsabers to fans for their own skirmishes in downtown public squares in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.”
“Join us for a massive battle of Jedi vs. Sith in San Francisco on Star Wars Episode VII opening weekend,” enthuses Flynn Michael, founder of Lightsaber Academy and the Saberist Network App. “Whether a person is a beginner or has lots of experience, we can help. Pick a side of the force and use that venerable, ancient, glowing tool: the lightsaber, in the ultimate nocturnal showdown.”
BECOME A CERTIFIED LIGHTSABERIST!!!
Lightsaber Academy pairs the techniques of lightsaber choreography with true martial arts training, and is celebrating the launch of their new Saberist Network app, which allows padawans to locate lightsaber classes and become certified in the art.
Golden Gate Knights, a San Francisco-based Lightsaber Academy affiliate, will be leading up lightsaber choreography demonstrations during Episode VII opening weekend. Founder Alain Bloch remarked, “The incredible turnout at each of our events truly shows that the Force is awakening in fans young and old all over the world.” Fan groups Lightsaber Academy, Newmindspace and The Golden Gate Knights are teaming up to bring martial arts spectacle, free all-ages fun, and thousands of lightsabers to fans young and old on opening weekend.
