PROGRAM
Dead Reckoning (2015)
Choreography: KT Nelson
Original music by Joan Jeanrenaud, celebrated Kronos Quartet Cellist, underscores Nelson’s vision of humanity in the throes of upheaval and its impact on the surrounding natural forces. Dead Reckoning refers to navigating without the predictable reference points of stars, increasing the likelihood of accumulative error.
Giant (World Premiere)
Co-commissioned by White Bird & ODC
Choreography: Kate Weare
In Giant, controversial acts of heroism—from Salome to Edward Snowden—serve as a jumping off point to explore perception of the heroic body and fantasies about courage and valor. Dubbed “the voice of the ‘it’s complicated’ generation,” by Dance Magazine, Weare charts her own view of humanism by tackling head-on the violence, sensuality and complex yearning for intimacy that mark our age. Giant is made possible by White Bird’s ‘Barney’ Creative Prize
