Learn to grow Vegetables this Spring!

SEE EVENT DETAILS
This is a 2-part event, in order to get the most out of this workshop we strongly recommend you register for both days!
Part 1: Thursday, June 1, 6:00 pm–8:00 pm Cole Hardware 956 Cole Street. $10
Interested in cooking from your very own backyard garden? Join Garden for the Environment and Cole Hardware staff to learn how to plan out your spring vegetable garden. Part 1 of the workshop will take place at our Cole Hardware location in Cole Valley. We’ll teach you how to choose plant varieties that will thrive in your space, how to select healthy starts, what other supplies you’ll need to plant and care for your garden, and what to know before planting. We will help you pick out seeds that will work in your space and show you how to plant them to get your garden off to a great start. (Take these starter plants home with you!)
Part 2: Saturday, June 3, 10:00 am–12:00 pm Garden for the Environment 7th Avenue & Lawton Street. $10
Join Garden for the Environment and Cole Hardware staff for the second part of our twopart workshop about introductory veggie gardening. This workshop will take place at Garden for the Environment, San Francisco’s teaching garden located at 7th and Lawton in the Inner Sunset. In this workshop, instructors will take you step-by-step through preparing your soil, checking your irrigation system, and planting seedlings. Be ready to get dirty!
Each part is $10 per person and needs to be registered for separately. 100% of your ticket cost goes to Garden for the Environment. We look forward to getting you all set to grow veggies this season!
Garden for the Environment is the only garden in San Francisco solely dedicated to teaching sustainable gardening practices. In 1990 we took over a desolate and vacant lot, creating in its place a vibrant demonstration garden that is designed to inspire and educate youth and adults. Our mission is to provide practical skills for all San Franciscans to personally contribute to sustainability through urban gardens, farms, and food. Whether you are a new gardener or an experienced urban farmer, we have workshops for you in our nationally acclaimed teaching garden. Find us in the garden on Wednesdays from 10-2 and Saturdays from 10-3!
