Learn About Rhododendrons From Sichuan, China

On Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 7:30 PM, at Room 12 of the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Avenue, Los Altos, California 94022, the De Anza Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will feature a program by Jason Martinez, a Horticulturalist at the San Francisco Botanical Garden on a San Francisco Botanical Garden Sponsored collecting trip to Sichuan, China. The expedition visited locations such as the area of Mount Emei, the Mount Gongga region including the Hailuo Valley, and the Juizhaigou World Heritage Site.

The expedition was mainly focused on magnolias, rhododendrons and maples but much more was discovered.
Many rhododendron species that are in our gardens, and hybrids derived from such species have their organ in Sichuan, China.
Also at the meeting will be Y. C. Chen, an internationally known expert on azaleas.
