Le P'tit Laurent in San Francisco to Host Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration
Le P'tit Laurent in San Francisco will be celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau, the “first wine” of the harvest season, on Thursday, November 17, by offering an a la carte menu served from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. with an optional pairing of a glass ($8.50) or bottle ($39.00) of Beaujolais Nouveau. There will also be live jazz musical entertainment by the Dave Parker Quartet beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Beaujolais Nouveau is a traditional French holiday that celebrates the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau wine. Made from the Gamay grape, this wine is similar to a light bodied Pinot Noir and has fresh, youthful, and fruity flavors that pair perfectly with autumn dishes. By law, it is celebrated on the third Thursday of November every year.
Proprietor Laurent Legendre opened Le P'tit Laurent in 2007. Born and raised in Paris, Legendre studied at the internationally acclaimed École Hôtelière and worked at top Parisian restaurants including La Tour d'Argent, Elysée Lenôtre, L'Arpège, and Amphycles. While on vacation in the United States, he fell in love with San Francisco, decided to make it his home, and opened Clementine Restaurant and Bistro Clement prior to Le P'tit Laurent.
Libations always offered at Le P’tit Laurent include an approachable selection of domestic and imported wines with the latter focused on French vintages but supplemented with Spanish, South African, Israeli, New Zealand, Chilean and Argentinean choices as well. The full bar serves modern, traditional and original signature cocktails (with often weekly new creations in this category).
The bistro inspired design of Le P’tit Laurent is notable for its Venetian plaster walls, pressed tin ceiling, chandeliers, wood flooring, a 1940s art deco style wood-topped bar, banquette seating and the reproductions of stylized and classic French advertising posters adorning the walls. The restaurant seats 40 guests, plus 8 at the bar.
