LB Steak in Menlo Park will be celebrating Kentucky Derby Day on Saturday, May 4, by opening early at 2:30 p.m. and serving a la carte food and drink specials highlighting the cuisine of the Louisville area or associated with the race itself. The Happy Hour menu will also be available until 6:30 p.m. and at dinner time, the regular a la carte menu will also be offered until 11:00 p.m.
Derby Day specials will be a Mint Julep for $10.00 with Buffalo Trace bourbon and muddled mint; Polenta Breaded Fried Green Tomatoes for $5.00 with okra, pancetta, spicy chipotle mayonnaise and basil essence; Slow Roasted Pulled Pork for $19.50 with smoked cheddar and jalapeño grits and Creole spice; Certified Angus Beef Filet for $30.00 with sweet corn, fava beans, fingerling potatoes and Kentucky bourbon peppercorn sauce; and Derby Pecan Pie for $8.00 with bourbon Chantilly cream and chocolate curls.
Ordering from the Derby Day menu will afford guests the opportunity to place a “bet†(prior to the race time, 3:24 p.m. PST) in the LB Stakes, a playful spin on horse race gambling, and then possibly win a range of prizes including a two-night stay at an upscale hotel, luxury spa and beauty treatments, complimentary meals, and other food-related goodies. The restaurant will be decorated in the spirit of the occasion and the staff will be festively attired.
This will be the first of three LB Steak hosted events celebrating the major races in the U.S. thoroughbred racing Triple Crown (the Kentucky Derby on May 4, the Preakness Stakes on May 18, and the Belmont Stakes on June 8).
