La Folie in San Francisco will host a "Rising Stars of La Folie" dinner series commencing with the first event on Monday, June 27 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a collaboration between Chef de Cuisine Jeremy Wayne and Chef Greg Lucero.
Priced at $80.00 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, the five-course meal with an optional wine pairing offered for an additional $60.00 will be preceded by a reception and the chefs being showcased will be in attendance. Chef de Cuisine Wayne, a native of Pacifica, California, loved cooking as a child and began his professional career in San Diego at a small cafe where he fully discovered his passion for the culinary arts. He moved to San Francisco and enrolled in the City College of San Francisco Culinary Program. After graduating, and while working at the Bohemian Club, he started a 3-month internship at La Folie where he quickly rose to the position of Chef and then Chef de Cuisine. In February 2015, he received a James Beard Rising Star Chef nomination.
Chef Lucero grew up in a close-knit Hispanic family near Albuquerque, New Mexico where he helped his mother prepare meals and then worked summers during college at the Hyatt Hotels in Bernalillo, New Mexico and Denver, Colorado. After receiving an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition from Johnson & Wales University he was appointed Sous Chef at Charcoal, a Swedish fine dining restaurant in Colorado headed up by Chef Patrik Landberg. In 2014, Lucero joined the La Folie team.
