Kode9 (aka Steve Goodman) is a musician, writer and artist. He is founder of the record labels Hyperdub and Flatlines, producer of 5 albums, 2 with the late Spaceape (Memories of the Future, 2006 and Black Sun 2012) and 3 solo (Nothing, 2015, Escapology 2022, Astro-Darien 2023), numerous DJ mix compilations, most recently Fabric Live 100 in collaboration with Burial in 2018, and the book Sonic Warfare (MIT Press, 2010).
In 2019, he co-compiled and remixed the Diggin in the Carts compilation of pioneering Japanese video game music and toured with visuals from anime legend Koji Morimoto. In addition, recently he produced sound installations for the Hyundai Commision at the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern (2018) and for the More than Human exhibition (2019) on artificial intelligence at the Barbican in London. Also in 2019, with the Audint collective, he co-edited the book Unsound: Undead (Urbanomic Press) and in 2021, Ø (Flatlines Press) which documented, in print, Hyperdub's experimental club events which took place in South London from 2017-2020.
He has an ongoing collaboration with simulation artist Lawrence Lek which most recently has seen them compose together the soundtrack to Lek's Death Drive film series.
